ECT power. what does it do?

well i took the truck out the other day to a nice quiet straight road. i floored it a few times using the ect power and without it. i noticed the shift times change a little bit. is that all it does? plus im not sure if its good to use just doing regular driving. the truck is a v6 automatic BTW.

That's all it does. Raises the shift points to provide (IMOH) hardly noticeable faster acceleration. Have never verified it personally but I understand it will decrease your mileage however.

yea i have driven to school with it on a few times. my high school is like 20 mins away and i notice the difference in gas mileage. it goes down alot. i have a pretty heavy foot but whenever i slow down to turn on a road and i step on the gas my tires always spin. and they spin alot too. i only push the gas pedal about 1/4 of the way too.

It helps for additional torque, climbing hills, and pulling loads. It is NOT an "economy mode" switch, like many think. Use it on mountain roads, and your truck handles it like a breeze.....

The ECT power was only available on electronically controlled transmissions, that is what it stands for, so it shouldn't have been available on the 22re, but maybe on a 2wd 3vze?
