reverse lights

i went ot go back up last night and my reverse lights didnt work they were working before but now they are not and i just pulled the lights apart and there is no voltage getting to the socket is there a fuse or something for the reverse lights or is it in the swich

There is a backup light switch, but can't remember if the fuse is separate or share with some other circuit. Look at the fuse block under the dash.

Manual or automatic?

Check the switch on the side of the transmission, should have two wires to it, jumper those wires and see if the lights come on.

well i have it in my shop and i had a job come in so its been sitting here on and in reverse and i went to go sit on the tail gate and the went on for a sec but then went off again. and i havent had a chance to look at the swich yet. what side of the tranny is it on and is it up by the shifter?

Left side close to the filler plug, I believe but I cannot be 100% sure, I think some of them is on the right side, just can't remember what year or model.

Did you say it actually did flicker on? If that is the case, it may be wiring, broken wire maybe? Anyway, jumper the switch will tell you if the wiring is good or not.

jumpered the wire and they worked fine took out the swich it made contact so i put it back in and they randomly work they are on right now and a coustomer walked in and it turns out he owns a tranny shop and he said it is rpolly the swich

Yeah, the switch can sometimes cause intermittent operation like that. Glad to know you got it figure out.
