no fuel after engine replacement

So I just swapped the engine with a new one and I'm not getting any fuel, pulled off the line going into the fuel filter (from the tank) and it's dry, fuel pump was working before engine swap.

Yes it had gas, we dropped the fuel tank and took out the pump, connected some +/- wires to a battery and the pump did nothing, is there a better way to test it? I just priced a new fuel pump and

i have no experience with fuel pumps. but if another forum member stops by, i'll ask the questions for them then.

your truck is stated as 1994. is it Electronically Fuel Injected? then it would be the 22re.

i think EFI and carbs have different pumps. hopefully someone will come by

Is it a 22RE or 22R? Did you connect the pump correctly when you test it?

22re, the clip on the fuel pump had two wires, one for power and the other was a ground, so we essentially straight wired it to a car battery and got nothing.

Just checking. The fuel pump don't go out very often, but once in a while they do.

Did you check the connector to the fuel pump to make sure it is getting power?

Yes there was power to the connector when we tried to "start" the engine. Could it be just coincidence it went out same time as the motor? Is there a better way to test it before I go out and drop some change on a new one?

You have done all the test that is available; you have checked for power at the connector, and you have tested the pump. Did you make the connection at the pump itself or the adapter plate when you test the pump?

It sure seems like it is a coincident, unless other repairs were made that is related to the fuel pump.

I would bet that the truck has sat for a while waiting for the engine swap.

It is not unusual to have a weak pump that gives up the ghost after not running for several weeks or more.

That would be my guess too, but right now, it doesn't really matter; if the pump tested bad, the pump is bad.

Well, at least it is running, which is a good sign.
