92 Pickup 2WD 4.3L Chevy swap

Today my brother and i put a chevy 4.3L in my toyota truck, it went in nice and smooth, had to remove the sway bar thats it. My bro made 100% custom engine mounts you will see them in the pictures. Tomorrows another day, we have to build a transmission mount (manual), then hook up the clutch lines etc etc. The wire harness is being worked on as i type this. I have to get this truck completed and driving by mid december, i will keep posting pictures. Check these out

Sounds like a neat project, 4.3 liter chevy is a good motor, my 97 has 242k on it.

Is the 4.3 the v6? I've heard a bit of good things about it. What years are the trucks they're run in?

yes the 4.3 L is a v6, i dont know much about the years they are run in as im not a chevy fan and could care less lol... but i know the 4.3L is the biggest v6 out there and the 350 chevy is exactly the 4.3L but with 2 more pistons.
it came out of a 92 s-10

Oh, ok. Yeah, I don't really care for Chevy's either but as long as it's not a '97 to '00 I think it'll be fine . I actually kind of like the s10's a bit. Something about mid-sized trucks, I guess . The Dakota, Bronco, early F-150 and s10 are not bad looking vehicles . I don't know too much about their performance but whatever, I'm never gonna own one anyway .

I am no expert but that isn't quite correct. The v6 has an ofset crank as the block is a 45 degree block like the v8. It also has a balance shaft for much the same reason.

DSMahon-- what is wrong with the 97 - 00 models? They have the obd2 and fuel injection. If you wan't serious horse power it cost more money to make work than with the older carb versions but so what?

I don't know if it was solely the 1500's but throughout those years (not specifically but around then) they produced extremely trouble-plagued trucks. My brother bought one a few months ago and has had nothing but problems from it. I spoke with a friend who knew a bit about Chevy's and confirmed that throughout a certain number of years they were really poorly built.

Yeah, a few days ago we found a craigslist ad selling a 4" TrailMaster lifted '91 toyota pickup 5sp 22re I believe. He wanted either $4500.. or.. a f***in' '97+ Chevy 1500. I think we shat pure excitement

Normally, I'd never buy a truck that has already been modded. Personal policy. But in this case I think we can make exceptions

Unfortunately.. we haven't heard from him yet

Yeah, he's already had to tamper with the brakes as well . It was just your simple worn brake pads, though. What were you thinking of that makes them so unsafe?

Theres a lot of people that have had the trucks actually jump over a lane or two when they need to slam on the brakes. the whole brake systems were just horrible from the factory. they all just gave them right back to the dealer. im sure they fixed the problem a little while after though. But you gotta be carefull.

Are these the later model Chevys I've heard of where the brake lines have a tendency to rust out?
