I hate my manual mirrors!!!!

My 94 is equipped with the manual mirrors where the whole assy. moves instead of just the glass. The mirrors are in good shape but once you adjust them and hit a bump they just go out of whack. Half the time I'm driving the truck im towing something big and these puny mirrors just don't cut it. I'd like to be able to see behind me without having to turn my head. I got to wondering if the towing mirrors (the tube-ish ones in a square U shape) off of like a motorhome or a u haul truck might work because i really hate these mirrors. Help please?

I have the door mount manual mirrors since my truck has wing windows & they don't move at all. I adjusted them once & that's it.

Can you tighten something in your mirrors to keep them in place? I know the door mounts have a nut that can be tightened. The only other option that I see if you want a lager mirror is to put on some clip on mirrors or mount a larger mirror to the door that will require drilling holes in the truck. If that's not a concern then it might be your best bet.

Look under the mirror. There's a small philips screw that is holding on a cover. Take that off and there is a big-ass philps screw. Tighten that bitch down. It tightens up the spring that puts tension on the mirror.

The big "elephant-ear" kind of mirrors would let you see behind you better, but you would have to drill holes into your truck, and they would look funny... You could probably find a pair on any old truck at the junkyard, or just buy a pair from a parts store? They wouldn't look very nice though...

don't know how to adjust the tension, or don't know how to adjust the sight path ?

side view mirrors are for seeing what is BESIDE you in the next lane, not for seeing what is behind you.

that's cleared up...

sounds like you don't know how to adjust the tension on your stock mirrors... it's under there, and about 4 minutes to do. check it out. you might like them when they aren't flopping around.

if you really want huge RV style mirrors, there are clip on types now that you can bolt into your existing mounting holes, and not drill into the trucks door. i've seen very nice, rubber mounted types at truck stops, but don't have a brand name to offer, sorry.

having a spotter is a very good thing vs wrecking a nice, big trailer.

You can buy 90-95 4runner manual mirrors. They will swap into place and are much bigger.

I have the same kind as you, mine work great. Pop the inner black triangle plastic pannel (there is a single pop stud in the middle, be carefull it likes to snap) and remove the 3 gold screws. The mirror comes off and you can either fix it or swap it.
