22re engine rebuild

Hey guys, just picked up a 94 yota ex cab for 400 bucks. Frame is solid, little rot on fenders, engine seized. I am going to rebuild the engine using EB parts. I was curious about where I could get a good connecting rod set, I have a refurbished crankshaft, but I dont have rods. I dont want to chance having the crankshaft and the rods in there refurbished because of all the pressures on parts when a seize happens. Not sure what happened, but the timing chain was very loose, guides were destroyed. But pistons arent hitting the valves. But the crank could be bent, or maybe he ran it low on oil. Cam and rockers look good. So heres what im looking for...... master rebuild kit, head, crawler cam, rods and crankshaft. Would it be wise to assume that the crank and rods are not suitable for future use?

You could take the crank and rods to a trusted engine machine shop to check and see if they need to be trashed or can be fixed.

well for rods and a crank its around 300. To get my crank refurb its 155, and the rods are 120 new for all 4. I dont know how much it would cost to refurb each rod.

If it were me, I would first go to my machine shop, give him a history, and ask him to check the crank and rods and let me know if they were salvageable (of course depending how much it would cost to check them). Then I would compare my re-built to new costs and benefits.
