Some engine builders recommend re-torquing the head bolts after they have been through a heat cycle following a rebuild or gasket replacement. This can also be done at various intervals there after, examp. 500 or 1000 miles. Some gasket manufaturers claim this is unnecessary but, personally, I'm sceptical. I see no down side to doing it so, why not re-torque and be sure? JMO

not sure about you, but my buddy has an 89 V-6 and he was told that those engines are notorious for going through head gaskets...

but I agree with gregory, I usually re-torque my heads after about 1000 miles.

have you had your heads checked for any signs of warping?
