USA cooling problems

ok so here is the next problem, my truck is over heating if i excelirate hard or go over 60 mph, my friend thinks is my fan clutch cause i can stop it with my hand and spin it backwards, in help would be good i would realy like to actualy drive it somday

You are supposed to be able to stop the fan unless the engine is very hot. Then it should be *hard* to stop it from spinning.

Going over 60 the fan isnt doing much of anything anyhow. Vehicle speed should be pushing planty of air past the radiator


I vote for your radiator is shot. Either plugged or falling apart. Its been talked about on here before

also make sure all the fins are semi-clean on the front of the rad (bugs/rocks/mud). then try to flush it. also thermostats are cheap so when indoubt replace it, maybe someone put the wrong temp range in there? the rad in my 22re is made by GM, so im sure that is the problem right there :-)

ssame thing happened to my truck...all we did was send it to a shop where they take ir apart to clean....80 bux...or shop around for a new radiator<<<doing this u should also get an electric fan

yeah an elecrtic fan is on the shopping list im taking hte carb apart this weekend i hope me and two friends can get the thing rebuilt in two days new spark pulgs go on today as well as new wires so with any luck it just might pass CA smog
