Replacement bed for a 86 pickup

Well, after weeks of looking for the right truck i finally found it. I go to college in new york so i needed a 4X4 and it needed to be the right price. The truck cab was in great shape and it had fairly low milage so i bought it and brought it home and started to take it apart in order to paint it and do minor body work. The only problem was the bed was shot and that seemed to be very common on these truck so i figured i could just replace it fairly cheap. Apperently i was wrong . i called one place today and they quoted 1000 dollars for a used one. is this guy just crazy? i hope so. by the way i live outside of reading pa. If this is the going price can i take a bed off of anyother truck and stick it on. like one from nissian? where can i get a new bed and how much have you guys spent on them? i dont need/want a show car just one to get me around. Thank you for the help david

Buy one of those Offroad or 4 Wheeler magazines.. There's always advertisments for Fiberglass boxes in there. Call some of these shops that advertise in these magazines, you'd be surprised what they carry...

If you're asking if the 87 2wd x-cab will fit on your 88 4wd x-cab frame, yes.
