Canada 86 Toyota 'One Ton' EFI?

First Toyota. Howdy, I've just purchased the above to go back and forth to work. Are there any inherent problems with this truck I shoud be aware of? Thanks
Alos, I'd like to buy another Toyota truck to pull a UHaul across the country next spring. I plan to spend about 8 thousand CDN. Can anyone recommend a year and model in good condition? Thanks again.

wow youre lucky to have found a one ton toyota for sale wow

i wish i could find one

with what i am hauling around often i need one bad

plus my 1/2 ton frame is completely rotted about to break in half, leaf spring hanger is separated from the frame now

these old toyotas are rare here, any that are left are way too high priced

good luck

Just check through the "sticky" threads at the top of the page for common problems and fixes. Do you know if any engine repairs have been done to it? My brother's '84 3/4 ton got almost 800 kms on a tank of gas, but his was carbed.

I have an '88 4spd. 2wd 1/2 ton with 22R carb'd. I just moved from Nebraska to Tennessee with my truck loaded down plus pulling a trailer that was completely full. It was a very heavy load, but my truck pulled it okay. I maintained about 60-65 mph on the interstate (about 55 mph up steep inclines), and averaged about 22-23 mpg. It would have gone faster than 65, but I didn't want to push my truck too hard. I'll put a picture below.

Whatever you get, make sure before you leave for your trip that it is in good running condition and that the load in the truck and trailer is balanced properly about the axles. It makes all the difference.

Good luck with your move, and here's that pic:

Thanx for your help and advice. The previous owner bought it new and 'babied' it. He changed oil and filter obsessively. It hadn't been started in over a year. Excellent body/tires/interior. Good canopy. I put a new battery in it and it started instantly. Do you think $400.00 CDN was too much to pay? LOL I'll take a photo and post it in a day or so. Does 'Imagestation' work on this forum to put up photos?
