i got a crazy rattling noise

Something weird is going on in my 82 2wd 5speed... not sure what, but the faster i go as i shift through my gears there is an awful rattling noise. It literally sounds like a couple pennies in an empty coffee can being shaken... but it's a spinning sound too... all of a sudden it grinds like it locking in to the clutch or something and stops. I'm pretty sure it's the clutch. ANY OPINIONS OR SUGGESTIONS???

Sounds like you have a bearing in your transmission that's piled up.

Could be thew throw out bearing. What happens if you press the clutch pedal down while the sound is happening?

I replaced the clutch and in the process realized what the sound was. It was the dust cover on the drive shaft. the clutch however was definitely in need of replacement. Thanks for your thoughts
