'82 pickup transmission replacement
Howdy....i'm new to this forum, and to the toyota world in general. I bought a '82 4x4 pickup recently knowing that it had transmission issues and found a new tranny for it (they are both 4 speeds, the one i'm taking out has an integral bellhousing, the new one has a separate bellhousing and is a sideshifter). All is going smoothly, but i need advice on the crossmember under the transfer case. it has four bolts on either side of the truck but two of them go into nuts i suppose are welded inside of the frame. These two on either side have apparently rusted inside the frame and have come loose while i've tried to remove them. I've considered just tapping the frame once i grind the bolt head off. Has anyone else had this problem or do you have any suggestions about this swap in general? any help would be much appreciated
