96400 KM
A/C Heat / Defrost

Why are we getting such poor fuel mileage? Is it our driving conditions and style or the car itself?

Thanks,
Tim

2006 Sienna Highway Gas Mileage

I have a 2006 Sienna and I owned a 98 Sienna before that. The 2006 gets noticeably better highway gas mileage. I think it is due to the combination of the larger engine (3.3 liter vs. 3.0) and the five speed transmission (vs. four speed) that allows the 2006 to cruise along at lower RPMs than the 98 did. I drive 70-75 MPH and average 25-26 MPG with the A/C on in 80-90 degree weather. Best ever was 28 MPG driving with A/C off in 60-70 degree temperatures from Arlington, VA to Boston; 465 miles without refueling. City mileage is noticeably lower, but seems better than my 94 Camry V6.

Have you tried adding BG 44K to clean out your fuel injectors? I use it once a year, about every 15K miles, and it makes a real difference - especially in my old Camry's mileage and performance.

2005 XLE FWD
48,000 miles
air cond on 99% of the time
I drive the speed limit or slightly above
no jackrabbit starts and watch traffic lights so I don't brake more than required
my avg mpg is 19.2
mostly city, but when on the highway I am towing my 14' boat.
on a recent long trip 2600 miles I got 26 mpg (used exactly 100.2 gallons)
use walmart 5-30 100% synthetic oil changed every 10,000 miles
avoid gasolene with ethanol when ever possible
never added any snake oil to the gas! (additives)
Oh yea also always have stuff in the back -golf clubs etc
air lift 1000 model 60732 air bags inside rear springs to level and prevent hitch dragging.
