USA Sienna - Running Wires to Battery

Hi,

Are there holes in the fire wall that I can run wire through?

I've looked under my dashboard ( and also the rear of my engine compartment) as best I can, but I can't find any holes/plugs through which I can run wires.

I'm installing a new ham radio and want to power it off of the battery directly.

TIA,
-:>Kevin

Kevin,

Did you ever figure out how to run wires from the passenger compartment to the battery in your Sienna? I too am a fellow ham facing the same challenge. If you did figure this out, please let me know how (jmtracey at optonline.net). Thank you.

John

If you remove the gas pedal, there is a rubber grommet that the throttle cable goes thru to the engine. this is where you can run some wires.

i jus used an existing hole. my van is a 98 sienna CE, the hole should be in the same location. look under the hood, far back where the firewall is, and u should see a wire coming out of it, run the wire into that hole, and u will see it go through under the steering wheel. i used this hole to run my amp wire.
hope this info helps

You both should add a battery isolator and run duel batteries, that why you will not run down you starting battery, you latter can add on a 115 inverter off your non starting batteries. I run two batteries in line, give me 1,200 amps, If I run 600 watts it will last me 90 minutes, most ham set are 3 to 20 watts. My inverter is 3000 watts/surge 6000 watts, if you get a fussy sound you add filters to the line I have 2 on mine.

Having just done this I found the easiest way is to follow the hood release and shove a wire coat hanger, (slight curve) right through the same hole and poof you're in the engine compartment free and clear. there is another "nipple" right next to the rubber grommet that the hood release goes thorugh, you can open it and shove the coat hanger thorugh it. i did the red thorugh the existing and the black through the new one. My radio had pretty thick wires.
