2004 Highlander Vs. Rx330

I'm currently split between a Highlander and the Rx330. If only the Highlander had a Nav System it would be an easier decision for me (as I can give up the lexus luxury for $8-10k in my pocket).

Anyone have info on the '04 highlander? I have heard it will be adding a 3rd row seat which is not important to me. Any other details? Nav system? Approx. Ship-Date?

Highlander is better looking, has more cargo room and the new one will have 3rd row seating optional. The Rx330 isn't worth all the extra $ IMHO and it's ooogly.

You can also get an optional LSD with a Highlander.

LSD > electronic traction control, ASR, ASP, PDQ nonsense

Not sure if there's LSD for RX, but I'd pick the RX because of the new styling, new/more powerful engine and all the new technologies that comes with it.

I keep hearing that highlander will be getting a 3rd row seat. What about a Nav system? I don't an aftermarket one - I'd prefer it built into the dash

NAV now an option

04 Highlander has NAV as an option, and I believe most now come with 3rd row seats.

I'm getting NAV (and XM) on a new 04 Toyota convertible I have on order. For my Highlander I'll stick with my "portable" Magellan Roadmate 700 GPS/NAV unit.

Still jonesing for the cool HID headlamps and the backup camera on the RX330 though

4th Generation Aftermarket backup camera

Just installed a backup cameral in my 2006 HIHY which hooks into the NAV system. I got the equipment from http://www.avelectronic.com/NavigationVid-Switcher.html? which included the interface and a license plate mounted cameral for $425.
Had it installed at a local shop for $85 and it works like a charm.

There are many fine double din indash units that combine a NAV unit and entertainment center DVD, CD Etc. A number of these units can be had for well under $1000. They function great and look factory. They actually are more powerful than a factory unit and have more options. Save your money buy the Highlander.
