Highlander 05 Idle Noise

I recently purchased a Highlander 3.3 V6 2WD and I have noticed that at idle there is a tapping noise. It seems to go away at acceleration and I can't hear it at speed. It sounds like it may be valves but I can only hear it from the inside of the truck. Has anyone else come across this? I have about 2500 mile on the vehicle.

I don't need the 4wd and I liked the rest of the package. Great ride and handling, sits up high enough to see over a lot of the traffic, lot of room to haul stuff, good mileage for a v6, enough power to merge into DC traffic, good safety rating, etc. Good urban warrior and not enough bad weather to justify 4wd.

Ditto on why dohale likes his V6 2 wheeler, I have a 05 silver V6 2 wheeler & love it, mine only has 650 miles & it has the same tick, I never have had a car that takes 5w-30 oil but I'm already for the first change, I bought shell 5w-30 & it takes the same oil filter my 89' pickup takes.

My 04 highlander makes a rattle type of noise for about 1 minute on a cold start. It is pretty loud, and then goes away. I notice it most when I am outside of the car. Toyota can't figure out the cause. It is not carbon build-up, but I feel it is related to the valves. The sound has the same pattern as the engine at idle.

I have the same or similar problem with my 03 highlander. Its apparently noisey fuel injectors! They have a service recall that is supposed to correct the problem? Hmmm had the work done and its noisier than ever at all speeds.
