Upgrade audio 05 Highlander

First off ... greetings everyone!!! I recently traded in my '04 PreRunner for an '05 Highlander, V-6, AWD. I loved my Tacoma, but climbing into it was killing my back. I did my homework and decided that the Highlander had great bang for the buck. I am still adjusting because I have only driven Toyota trucks since 1986. This "S.U.V." thing is kind of cool, and very user-friendly. Anyway ... cut to the chase ... The Audio Must Be Upgraded. I basically just want to "upgrade" the stock system. Add a CD changer, change out speakers, and add modest amplifier. Does anyone have any solid suggestions on equipment, special considerations, and cautions, ect.

Are you also budgeting a sub into that? Can I talk you into installing everything yourself? lol

That is a serious "sub". I am guessing my projected budget is too small? I am not trying to rattle windows, just rattle my brain.
