Highlander mirror control fix
Recently, while driving around, my beautiful wife put her left foot up on the dash, and knocked the mirror controls into the dash. While this doesn't sound to bad, there is a 7" height difference so adjusting the mirrors often is needed. Here is what I did to fix this situation.
1. Remove the lower dash drawer (we use it for change), just below the switch. This is done by opening it until it is in its fully open position. Then carefully pull in an upward direction. This will unattach the plastic hinges, and allow the drawer to slide free.
2. Reach in and up through the drawer opening, carefully grabbing the mirror control from the back. (Place one finger on the back of the switch in the middle).
3. With your other hand, on the outside of the dash, adjacent to where the switch normally seats, hold the dash in place. When you depress the switch in from behind, this portion of the dash will come loose. To prevent this, hold it in place.
4. Depress the switch in place, it should slide into place and stay. Once it is in place, remove your hand, and put the lower dash drawer back in (reverse of step #1).
This is a VERY simple fix, no tools necessary, and it only takes about a minute to do.
