91 previa noise

My 91 previa sounds like an old volkswagen whenever I accelerate. I think it is the SAD shaft since the original one is still on it.
I have noticed a few posts related to this. I can't afford the $11-1200 fix either and was hoping for more info on the possible options. Someone mentioned a part from A1 Cardone but when I went to the recommended site I could not find it. Also I have read about (and seen on-line) a kit available via previaparts.com that says it will cover the 91 Previa.
Has anyone tried one of these kits successfully?
There is a bulletin from Toyota, DL001-00 that covers installation of a kit for 94-97 SC models but apparently nothing for the earlier models.
My goal is to make my two Previas last "forever". Any help/insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks es250nut, I found the part. Have you actually had this done on your 92 Previa? If so, was this the only part needed and what kind of labor time did you get charged to do the work?
Have you looked at the previaparts.com repair kit? It does not look like a shaft assembly, it just looks like a pair of adaptor plates. Any idea what the difference is.

I havn't had to replace the SAD shaft in my Previa as of yet. I just discovered the listing for the remanufactured shaft when I was looking for a replacement C/V for my Previa.

The "kit" is just the replacement bushings and plates for the SAD shaft joints. (the part of the shaft that actually wears out)

There tend to be 2 forms of the SADS revolvers: Urethane and aluminum. (I'm not familiar with the urethane housings.) The OEM revolvers are aluminum. Inside the aluminum housings are the bushings. Through these bushings are mounting bolts that secure the SAD shaft to the revolvers, transferring the engine (crankshaft) rotational motion to the accessory drive in the front of the car. This provides for the operation of the alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, and radiator fan (I think - I'd have to check to make sure the fan is not electric).

It's the failure of these bushings that is causing the noise. The bushings no longer cushion the mounting bolts as the engine RPMs change (sudden changes like the A/C compressor cycling on/off).

I have bought and installed the aluminum ones (but not from the seller in the link above - this seller wasn't around when I did mine). I got mine from:

buying just the revolvers with bushings and reusing my existing nuts/bolts/etc.

There are fairly detailed remove/replace instructions

You'll have to decide for yourself if you can manage the remove/replace. It may be that you can buy the revolvers and provide them to your mechanic for them to install. I'd check with them before I bought though to make sure.
