I own a 2010 Sequoia Platinum with 5.7L engine and tow package. I'm thinking about purchasing a new travel trailer with UVW of 4200 lbs and GVW of 6500. Does anyone have experience pulling something that large and how the Sequoia handles it?
Look in your owner's manual for towing capacity. You should be fine towing. You have a full size truck and that is what is needed to pull a big heavy trailer.
Thanks. I did look in the manual. It states that it should be able to tow up to 8K lbs GVW. Just wanted to know how it behaved hauling something around 6K lbs.
What will it weigh once you have it loaded with your gear and things like water etc. May consider adding a brake controller! I'd be more concerned stopping it than pulling it. Don't want the tail wagging the dog
Thanks. I have a brake controller. I'll probably add a weight distribution system, as well. We have a smaller trailer now. We don't haul water just our gear and food in the trailer. I think I'll be good on the added weight.
Good for towing? That shows it's tough, that's a vote this way!
I rarely tow anything, but it sounds great as I'm thinking about getting one of these.
The competition? Ford Flex (probably too new), Toyota Sienna (would I rather not go minivan?) Ford Explorer (I see these at the shop at lot, but they usually need easy tie rods/wheel bearings and keep on going).
Oddly, as a tech, I see Toyota's the least...yet not oddly as they're better, but that's how it's odd. How do you judge it when you don't see the failures?
