My wife is a low mileage driver. We've had her Sequoia SR5 4x2 for two years, and she just made 20,000 miles. It came with Dunlop Grandtrecks with a treadwear rating of 420. Despite the alignment being checked and confirmed good, the tires are nearly worn away. They will require replacement within the next three months or so. So really, I have two questions:
1) Anyone heard of any unusual reason why Sequoias chew up tires quicky (btw, trust me, it ain't her driving, she's extremely mild at the wheel)? Is there any reputation developing with the Tree and its tires?
2) Anyone have a recommendation for a good replacement tire model? The OEMs are way out of contention, for multiple reasons, including the wear issue.
I have heard quite a few people have this problem with this tire on their Sequoia's..... They have all worn down the tread relatively quickly with easy driving.... It's not the Sequoia it is just the tire..... I have had similar problems with both my Solara and Camry both had Bridgestone Potenzas on them and both didn't get past 13,000 miles and neither are cars I drive aggressively......

Neat ride! Now, if it was red and said "Budweiser" on the side, I'd offer you twice the market for it... Seriously though, if you're talking about the tires I see in that pic, I'd need a considerably less aggressive tire tread pattern. For my wife, the Tree is just a big, tall wagon. She makes me wash it it she has to park in the grass at the kids school. . . Good QUIET handling is what I need for her. The noise that that pattern would generate wouldn't cut it. Is there a less aggressive pattern available?
Slap some 20 inch KMC Condors on there! Not only will it ride smooth, You will be going to soccer games with STYLE! Your kids will get instant popularity once they see them getting dropped off in the dubbed out suv.

I know this is an old post but our Sequoia eats tires too, we are on our second set and the outer edge gets chewed when on the front (feathers real bad). We are running Michelins, same ones that come on the Land Cruiser. My friends Cruiser has no issues with the tire, our Sequoia is destroying them. There is actually a ball joint recall that we had done however it did not fix the problem. Good luck finding a solution, we are thinking of selling ours as I'm sick of feeling the vibrations and watching the tires get eating.

A freind of mine has had the same problem and yes there is a problem with the front ends on these trucks.
As for tires, I have had good luck with Toyo Open Counrty A/T & Bridgstone Dueler A/T Revo's.

I just had to put new tires on my Sequoia. I spent about $800.00 a year a half ago on Bridgestone Alenza tires. Suppose to be great tires. Lasted about 20,000 miles for me. I just put on Bridgestone Revos. Hopefully, they will go for 50,000 miles. They say the alignment is perfect. Bridgestone only gave my $250.00 credit towards my new tires since the others were 65,000 mile tires. At least it was something!
I had Alenza's. Could not get them balanced. Went to REVO's. They seem pretty good. A little more road noise. Real smooth. Good in the snow so far. Ride is very controlled. Probably 4k miles on them.
