My guess is that you're hearing the rear brakes releasing, but not enough of a description of the problem to tell. Is the clunk happening only in the mornings? And is it when you take your foot off the brake pedal and start to roll? What happens if you keep your foot on the brake and give it gas to move only releasing the brake enough to allow forward progress? Are you setting the parking brake overnight?

Try greasing the drive shaft, especially the slip joint. If the noise was like mine, I think you will see this problem go away.

I don't remember what type of grease I use. If I get back home tonight I can look, but it is what ever type of grease Toyota recommends, probably purchased at Autozone.

I' should have asked what year Sequoia you had. On my 2004 this is what I have. The "B" one is the trouble maker for the "thud" noise.

I found this comment from a different forum dated November 26, 2006 by poster Tempetom

Quote:
The slipjoint takes a whole lot of grease. That's not a very technical explanation, but it really doesn't have to be full. My slip joint always tells me when it needs more. You feel a slight clunk when stopping. I believe it takes around 20 pumps, but different guns probably pump at different rates. I think the excess will come out of the end of the driveshaft also but I hardly ever completely fill mine.
Mine takes a bunch also.
