USA New to Toyota

Hi Guys
I just picked up a 1996 lexus lx450 , It's in really good condition with 115,000 on it , no rust ... very clean .
Do the Fe3 straight 6 motors have a timing belt or chain ? and is ther a recomended mileage that if it is a belt it should be changed .
Whats a good CD-rom for repairs to buy .
Thanks guys

Greg

The straight 6's have a timing chain. There is no recommended maintenance interval (as there is for a belt). If properly maintained, something else in the engine usually wears out before the chain. I've got 155,000 miles on my LC and it's doing fine.

USA Good morning

Good morning all,

Since Greg posted his message first and has to do with the same question I had, I am posting this under his thread....

My wife is the proud owner of a 96 LC that I now get to work on and generally get to take care of all maintenance needs...

After a rousing round of loosening the wrong bolts on the calipers and putting an air bubble in the brake lines , I found little or no use for the Chilton's repair manual ....

Can anybody recommend a good LC manual/CD Rom?

Thanks

BALCC

the FSM or factory service manuals are about as good as you're going to get. they can be expensive but if you buy one from ebay or somewhere other than a reprint from a dealer you shouldn't have to pay too much
