the great Crusier key tragety of 99

The key to my 99 Land Crusier was ran over by a dump truck as I ran across the street and it bounced out of my pocket. The good news is that I was not run over by the truck while jaywalking, and having to explain that. The bad news is that I dont have a spare and am told that because the chip was crushed my system would have to be flashed and I'm Looking at 1000.00 plus $. Talk about skipping the foreplay? does anyone have any idea of a way around this debacle or am I going to have to mortgage my house and pay this ridiculas cost. I'm pretty decent with a wrench if this makes any difference..

Just had to replace a key myself. It was 255 for the key and another 40 to re-program all done at the Toyota Dealer.
