USA Headlight Dimmer Switch Keeps Blowing-Help

I have a problem with my 86 FJ60.

When I turn on the headlights, the headlight control relay buzzes and the headlights won't come on.

Running, turn, hazzard lights and switches work.

I tracked it down to the dimmer switch. Swapped it out with one from the Pick and Pull from an old Corolla (no LCs in the junk yard, no surprise). It fit perfect, connected the wires and everything worked, until....a couple days later.

I went to drive home from work and it happened again. I know what is broke (headlight dimmer switch), but have no clue what is causing it to blow.

Pls help!!

Dimmer Switch--not

Seems to be an intermittent ground fault. Jumping seems to keep the headlights on.
