Australia 80 series engine fault

Hi, I have an 80 series 4.2L petrol landcruiser 94', and have just done a stupid thing & washed the engine down with a high pressure spray. It took a while to get started thinking I had water in the distributor etc & have checked the distributor, coil, leads etc & all appears dry and OK. The car initially starts, but when the rpm goes over approx 2100rpm it dies, drops down to around 1500rpm & so on, the engine seems to 'hunt'. It runs beautifully at 2000rpm or less when initially started. I have let it idle for hours, thinking any remaining moisture might dry up with the engine heat, but still no good. Couldn't find anything adrift loose etc am am currently at my wits end........Any idea's?
Yeah, I should have known better than to wash it down, and being a sparkie myself have learnt a valuable lesson. Anyway can someone please help!

Post your question here also;

I think you'll get a better response. Lots of Cruiserheads from Oz there also.

The Mud board is exclusively Land Cruisers.

80 series engine fault

Many thanks for the reply Skybill. Anyway had no choice but had to take the cruiser to the mechanic, he's just spent two days with it, blowing out everything with compressed air, and it seems to have fixed it.
Still don't know where, but I now the engine can stay dirty next time.
Cheers, Bob

Apparently this is common in alot of engines!!
