1985 FJ60: top of 2F not getting any oil. Help!

I have a 1984 Landcruiser FJ60 with an '85 motor. The top of the motor is not getting oil. The oil pump is working, and the oil pressure gauge is showing good pressure. Where do I start looking? This vehicle is new to me. I am not a mechanic. The mechanic that revealed this problem to me said to go to Jasper Engines and order a new motor. Any guidance/suggestion/info here would be most appreciated. I'm attempting to attach a picture of the motor with the valve cover off so you can see what we're dealing with.
Thanks.

ok, the attempt to add a link to a picture didn't work. But trust me, it's not pretty. everything is pretty rusty under the valve cover.
