LAND CRUISER future ?

Ok... Land Cruiser has been my love since Junior High. I got two kids now but no Land Cruiser yet.

Why?

Let's forget about the GAS prices for a second here.

NO STICK SHIFTS on the North American continent.....

Has anybody seen the VX-R LandCruisers in the Middleast............ with stickshifts...??????????????????????????????? i wish those were available in the USA... I have driven one.. so perfect. with automatic it is not the same thing PLUS USA DOES NOT GET THE FULLY LOADED BEAUTIFUL LOOKING LAND CRUISERS THAT MIDDLEAST DOES.

So beautiful, drive so perfect with a stick.............

One more thing..

I heard the LC will be stopped in the USA???

LC shape changed the rest of the world for 2005 but did not show up in the USA........

What the h*** is going on?

Sales are slow in USA? I TELL U WHY.

Every other Dave/dick/harry manufacturere (i.e.. Land Rover) have special advertisements for the trucks...

Does Toyota ever display/show/tell their AWESOMe LAND CRUISER HISTORY. NEVER..NEVER... WHY.. NEVER... ?????????????????
WHY?

And then they say LC is getting killed in the USA............. Is it really?

LAND CRUISER is the BEST MADE OFF ROAD MACHINE. THE PRICE REFELECTS ITS SOPHISTICATIOIN. THE LAND ROVER (REPAIR PITT) IS NOTHING BUT WORKSHOP ADDICT MACHINE SELLS BETTER ??

Why is a picture of the next Land Cruiser shape not available anywhere yet? Atleast I could not find it. It is one of the first TOYOTA NAME PLATES AND IT DESERVERS BETTER RESPECT. Am I mad? No.
Just confused.

The ones your talking about is only available in the Middle East. It's not sold in Japan or anywhere else. There's no Landcruisers that are a full-size SUV, five-doors with manual tranny. The only Landcruisers that comes with the manual tranny is the two door, the new FJ Cruiser and the the original Landcruiser that's only sold in Japan I think.

uh uh.. we still get the LC down here in South America, both 2 and 5 door versions. They may not be the lastest models (generation) but we do get them. As a matter of fact, they all are stick shift NO AUTOS LC's here

No more Land Cruiser? (no more wagons)

Seems Toyota is good at making these very questionable marketing decisions, I suppose they stopped making wagons in favor of the mini vans (Sienna) but the Land Cruiser would seem a staple brand for identity like the Land Rover itself.
Achh... maybe this means they will start making wagons again.

U have the big LC in stick?
May be I should import one from there when I liquidate my 401k or better yet can you send me one as a gift??!!!

Yes I am talking about LC all over the world EXCEPT North America. Seems like North America is the only place in the whole world where cars are altered to meet the special needs of North Americans.

They don't want sticks here.
The Honda Accord, for example, was completely modifed for the North American market if u want the real Accord, get the Acura TSX.....

Anyway, coming back to the original topic.. the BIG 5 Door land cruiser shape has changed. Will the US get it? What does it look like? I have not had the chance to go over to the GULF REGION to see it.

The reason why the Land Cruiser doesnt come with a manual tranny is because people who buy $50,000 vehicles always opt for automatic trannys.
Also, for off-roading and automatic is actually better. You can crawl slowly with an automatic where if you had a stickshift you'd burn up the clutch in no time.
I thought that the FJ Cruiser was going to be sold in the US, perhaps I was mistaken.
From Toyota's standpoint, it makes more sense finacially to make the Sequoia because it shares a lot of parts in common with the Tundra. They dont have to spend as much money getting parts and pieces made special for one vehicle when they can instead use a lot of common parts on 2 vehicles.

There is no way Toyota is going to ditch the Land Cruiser for the FJ Cruiser. It would be a huge insult to the Land Cruiser name. When do they plan on redesigning it?

We get two Land Cruisers here in Europe: The Land Cruiser and the Land Cruiser 100. The only way you can't get one with a manual is if you get the 100 with the large 4.8 liter engine. All the others have either 5 or 6speed manuals and 5speed autos.

You should not ditch the Land Rover, it is just as capable as the ordinary Land Cruiser off road. We don't get the Lexus clone or the 2 door version - The Toyota is actually more elegant than the Lexus

... And Europe is not in the Middle East - We have oil barons as well who drive these monsters

The reason we dont see the LC here that is sold over seas is because Americans want to bitch about manual transmissions and rough suspensions and all that. alot of cars sold in the US taht are based on "world cars" so to speak have to be changed for our market so they are appealing. Look at the FOrd FOcus taht is sold in Europe. We also have so many vehicles that are produced specifically for us. The LC that most of us know will probably go away sometime soon because people would jsut as soon buy a Sequoia and get a lot of the same features in a bigger vehicle for the same money or less. also with the reintroduction of the FJ there may not be enough room in the US for two vehicles with the Cruiser name. I would imagine that even Lexus will do away with the LX470 we know now in favor of a Sequoia based large SUV.

FJ Cruiser is going to be sold in the USA, but not the 5 door version anymore. If the 5 door ver is to continue next year, it is supposed to or SHOUL come with the newer shape because middleast saw it for 2005 already.

Toyota seems to be making some questionable marketing decisions but they are still doing GREAT. Maybe it seems bad to us but has a hidden meaning.

In America, Toyota sells the Land Cruisers as a luxury vehicle, for only about 3% of modern Land Cruiser UZJ80 and UZJ100 series will ever see off road use, and those people are worth peanuts compared with the rest of the pot. It makes no sense to them to introduce the BJ models or the 70 series, let alone the "real" UZJ100 model used in the ME or South Africa. The Land Cruiser is known throughout the rest of the world for it's off road capabilities, but Americans have short memories, and seem to have forgotten it's roots, so some 50 year old millionaire will buy one, and the 26 year old off-road enthusiast will buy an FJ40 due to the 100 series price tag. Profit is all Toyota cares about now, and to have a very capable off-road vehicle in the US is not. A prissy SUV mall-crawler that many soccer moms and teenie boppers will buy for comfort and styling is. Thus, the Sequia is instantly popular, and the TLC will be phased out. The FJ Cruiser isn't even a real cruiser, more a modified Tacoma, albiet with a 6 speed manual, which is unusual and highly welcome!! As long as I can keep my 40 running, I'll be happy. I'll stick to the good old FJ's, back when an off-road truck was heavy duty, and styling and comfort were left for the Caddy's. Then again, maybe I'm just an old timer, even though I'm just 19...
