Land cruiser cd player problem

I have a 2000 Land Cruiser. The 6 CD player just went on the blink. It keeps
rejecting the cd(s) when I try to play them. Any ideas as to how to or where
(except a dealer) repair it?

Take your radio model number and search for it on eBay. This will definately be cheaper than buying new or letting a dealer fix it. If you are nervous about doing it yourself, don't be. If you own 2 screwdrivers, you can change the radio yourself. The dashboard area around the radio just pops out. Then you have complete access to the radio. Did you know that a company named P.I.E makes an interface for the 6 disc changer that allows an RCA interface to be plugged into your radio? You simply push the CD button again and the display shows CD1 after the interface is plugged in. I just installed a DVD system with monitors in the headrests using this RCA input to allow the DVD to play over the radio speakers, no FM transmitter.

steinhnj, how easy is it to pop off the trim pieces? can you give a few more details as i'm not prepared to break off a few really expensive pieces (i've found out everything is expensive with this car - but i still love it!).

i was contemplating a similar solution to the PIE - the monster icruze is currently on sale for $99

thanks in advance!

A little help...

You can find removal/install instructions for many vehicles at the following sites:

www.installdr.com
www.carstereohelp.com

You can find good factory replacement radios at reasonable prices (compared to the dealer) at:

www.replacementradios.com

Hope this helps...

Ed, Did you ever get this problem fixed? I'm having the same problem with my 2000 Land Cruiser. Any suggestions?
