Proud New Parent of an FJ
I love it, I love it , I love it....The Fj is the coolest, most innovative and different SUV out there.. Toyota knows the niche market, and they got it right with this one!. My Fj is VooDoo Blue...totally classic Toyota colour, and the styling...don't even get me started! I have had mine for a week now, and the only complaint I have is the constant bothering from people who want to touch it, sit in it, walk around it, look under the hood, and just plain admire it!!! It is not just young guys...it's older men who recall the fj40, and have a nostalgic admiration for it, and I have had women come and wander around it, and love it. My husband and I were looking for an older diesel fj40..and went to our closest dealer...not even knowing that the Fj cruiser existed. Saw it and fell in love!! BUT it was sold pending financing. Darn! My husband made the comment that soon everyone would have on and they would be everywhere. Not true! Apparantly Toyota is only releasing a limited number of the new Fj's and only for 5 years, this particular dealership is only getting 20 this year...and they are a big dealer?? HMMM...now we are thinking that it is for us. The dealer told us that we could put a deposit on one, and expect delivery the end of November!....WOW that is a long time to wait for a new vehicle. He also informed us that we would not have a colour choice, we were to give him our top three favorites and he would "try" to get us one of the three!...We wanted to test drive the one, the only one, on the lot, but because there was a deposit on it and the purchaser was awaiting approval the salesman was reluctant. We did bug him enough to get a really short drive, and I loved it....how can you not? Anyhow...the salesman took our info for the November order, and we picked our colours. So dissapointed...I had to drive the GMC Jimmy for another 8 months...After collecting our info, the salesman just happend to decide to check in with Toyota finance, and guess what....NOT approved!!! YEAHHH for me...he said if I really wanted one I had better take it becuse Toyota would send it to another awaiting client in a different city. That is the story of how i became the proud new parent of an Fj cruiser...it was meant to be. My husband and I now fight over it...I think he is going to have to order his own and trade in his pick-up. He took the Fj the day after we brought it home to work...and was the only one able to make it through the muddy road without aid of a cat...duramax diesel 3/4 ton were stuck all over the place and that little Fj just clawed it's way out!! Had some pretty impressed guys out there!!!!!!!!!!
