FJ 6-speed

I was at the local dealer today and I sat in the FJ. I noticed Reverse is in the top left corner, sort of like a german car. How would I put it into REVERSE? I could push it left and move it up but that might have just been 1st. Does anyone who has a FJ tell me how you put it into R? I tried pulling the stick, pushing it and all in all it doesnt give. If I just push it straight up is that first and the if I push it left and up its Reverse? I'm curious about this.

Thanks

yeah, i'm pretty sure the fj transmission is the same as the tacoma, since they both share the same engine. u just push it all the way to the left and up. that is reverse.

They had a tacoma without a shift knob too. I wasnt sure if it was the normal 135/24R pattern or the R135/24(6). The FJ was the only car in the showroom with a shift knob. They even take them off the automatics. WHY?! I always have to skin my hand to shift the cars in the showroom (with the clutch in, not that it really matters when engine is off)

The shift knobs are taken off so idiots dont steal them, almost every car at car shows have them removed too.

Yeah, personally I like the R on the left of one, since if you're gonna be going in reverse, you'd probably be shifting from first gear anyways - a very quick shift.

Canada Reverse.....

I have an 06 Tacoma with the same transmission...........as said,,,,,, hard left and forward.

Takes a little getting used to, but works well...........Also to let you know you have found Reverse, there is a small (not annoying) beep.

That FJ must really rocket with the V6............ my Tacoma sure goes!!!

................fun to run...................

I am seeing the fj's show up more each week here in the Pacific NW.....coool vehicles!

Yep, I have the 6spd FJ & you just push HARD to the left & up a lil & it snaps right in. I prefer it to the left imo.
