the FJ Disadvantage

so far this is the only thing i dont like about the FJ...

mind you this is after literally ONE day of driving (at night there are swarms of these things under street lights and the box of an FJ kills them all)

You don't like it because you drove through a swarm of bugs?

That goofy looking three windshield wipre set-up looks like it might actually come in handy.

OK definitely didnt say i didnt like it. I said the ONLY disadvantage was that.

so in my opinion thats kinda a plus. but having to clean my windshield with serious elbow grease everyday.. SUCKs.

and under every street light there is a swarm of bugs.. sooo that was more of what i was getting at. but back once again to the ONLY disadvantage being that. so i cant complain. anywho.

BTW OFRD_Grl, what do you think of the Blue? After much internal debate, that's the color I ordered. Any regrets?

At first I wanted the blue. Then I decided play it safe and ordered the silver. Then, at the last minute I changed to yellow. I get my truck hopefully tomorrow and hopefully I'll have made the right decision.
Yellow just looks so cool on this vehicle. The Revtek in Yellow looks awesome!

Yeah, color choice... I was on silver, but it just looks plain. Torn between blue and yellow, and yellow it just a touch too loud. I don't want them to see me coming from TOO far away. You know... "Them". I don't know, maybe it's the throwback to the old FJ, the blue with white roof with the black rack, just looks right.

Still...

What to do what to do...

Ok. Just picked up my bad boy. Damn! This thing is a beast and a gentleman.. Very impressed. Very solid truck.

Glad I went with sun fusion yellow. It looks sweet, especially when it starts to get a bit dark outside. I bumped into a dude with a black one and I must say it looks very nice. Has a metallic look to it when you look closely.

The blue is nice but the yellow..the yellow is AWESOME!

Been driving it for the past 5 hours and didn't want to stop. I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow!

I ordered blue. I hope I made the right choice, I just like the contrast of the white roof, and it's going to look great with that three inch lift.

OFRD_GRL - Just giving you a hard time about the dealer tag, but it looks better w/o it right??

The other thing with blue, I'm going to do some black rims, if I'm able to get it ordered with steel wheels, I may just keep those, with chrome centers and lugs. However if not, I'll swap them out at the local mag-shop after. Looks killer with the black wheels.

I envy you guys, I'm looking forward to driving mine.

You both have manual or automatic?

6 speed manual. Automatic in this truck would be such a waste.

Early comments after an unrestful night:

I understand what OFRD_GRL means about the bugs. They don't seem to have a chance when they hit the vertical windshield.

As far as people having issues with the C-pillar blind spot. It is a bit of a pain but with that huge side mirror it's not really an issue.

I read on a forum somewhere that some dude complained he had to lift the driver arm rest every time he wanted to buckle in. Not a problem at all....unless you are seriously overweight.

The stereo system isn't the greatest. I'm in Toronto, Canada and we don't have the subwoofer in the back so I'm sure that contributes to the problem. I'll try and tweak the settings again and see if it gets any better.

Gotta love the location of the oil filter!

The inside cabin is definately designed to make a mess in and have an easy clean-up.

I actually got pulled over on Lakeshore Blvd 8 kms after pulling away from the dealership. I was paying more attention to my new toy I didn't even notice I was 25kms over the limit. I was so busy grinning from ear to ear the cop actually let me go!

More comments to come...

I agree, I wouldn't buy it if it wasn't available in manual. I'm all over that. I can't wait.
