Dashboard Button

Hi. There's a button to the right of the A-Trac button that I can't figure out. The drawing on the button is an outline of a car with an alarm/siren coming down from the car's ceiling.

Does anyone know what this button is for? We just had the VIP alarm installed and I don't know if this is for the alarm, but I didn't notice the button before the alarm was installed.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

That's a good question, and the answer is not easily found in the owner's manual. But the button is referenced in the literature that comes with the alarm system. The alarm system includes a radar component that activates the alarm if motion is detected inside the vehicle. (If someone were to be locked inside, any motion would trigger alarm.)

You can defeat the radar component of the alarm system if desired by pushing that mysterious button.

BTW, someone asked why their radar detector in another vehicle was sounding when approaching the locked FJ. The answer is that it is triggered by the VIP alarm system with radar.

Hope this helps.

i would say it's for the speakers in the roof. but i could ask my dad or just "borrow "the keys from my mom and test it.

Hi,

I think it's a button to turn on and off a radar proximity sensor for the alarm.

For example, you go into a store but leave the dog inside the FJ the alarm won't go off.

It is the alarm. It is not the speakers. The headliner speakers are always on.

It's for the VIP alarm system.
The VIP alarm system will detect interior movement and set off the alarm. This alarm system kicks in 30 seconds after all the doors are locked and you shut the doors (unless you overide the program which is easy to do).

This button turns if off, in case you get out and your wife or dog is still in the car with the doors locked
