As a TN member I value the opinion and information given by other members. I just can't believe that nobody is having some (at least small) problems with their FJ cruiser! I am interested in buying one, but am wondering if I should wait a little longer for the bugs to be worked out. I found this FJ Cruiser forum which everyone may find helpful. This forum is reporting a lot more problems than the folks at TN:

Canada Problems

Unlike my past North American vehicles...no problems at all with my FJ. I have had it since 8/4. Great vehicle!

you'll see I am a member there, too. If you read through that thread and others, you'll see there's an opinion about the "problems" with the FJC, expression of said problems, and forums. In short, forums are an easy for the few to have a loud voice. Is it a perfect vehicle? Certainly not. It is just that here, for the time being, you've run into a group that has not experienced those problems. Like I said before, no problems with mine since I brought it home in May of this year. I've run two moderate trails and travel with my family of four. Good luck.

My wife and I were scared absolutely shitless last Tues night when our new FJ's front suspension, driver's side, totally collapsed. Fortunately, our speed was only about 35mph. If we had been travelling at highway speed (55mph or greater) we would have been killed...no doubt about it.

The FJ is now impounded in the local Toyota dealership's sevice yard awaiting inspection by an "investigator" from "headquarters".

If anyone has experienced, or heard of, an INCIDENT involving collapse of an FJ's suspension, pls email the details to me at theend@knology.net .

I will never be able to ride in an FJ again. If I were bound, gagged, and thrown into one, I would Houdini myself rite out of it...but I wish all other FJ owners the best. I still think the FJ is funky and cool....possibly the funkiest and coolest ever.

I'm glad your ok , it will be interesting to see what failed. Unfortunately it is a mechanical item and any mechanical item can be prone to failure.
I hope it all works out ok for you.

Happy to hear that you and your wife only got a good scare but I agree a mechanical failure can happen on any vechicle. That said could you post any news that Toyota offers up as to what exactly failed? I would be very curious to know what they say.

Do I hear lawsuit? Did the dealer do anything special to it prior to you buying it? These are all made in the States?

My parents was recalled for new tires for some reason. They really didn't mind getting new tires after not even 1 year.
