Japan Today reported that the number of orders for two Lexus models Toyota Motor Corp received in the first month of the luxury brand's domestic debut came to 3.8 times its monthly sales goal, the automaker said Friday.

Total orders for the GS sedan and SC sports car, both of which made a showroom debut Aug 30, stood at 4,600 units as of Wednesday, it said.

well the GS makes sense because you have folks who know and followed sales of the Aristo, but i'm pretty sure that SC was sold as a Toyota Soarer over there. So how would people be willing to buy a car which last year was specifically a Toyota?
