I've installed a few before and it's relatively easy, once you have the wiring diagram. Most Toyotas use negative (ground) triggers, and if you have a good understanding of them, as well as relays, then it's not hard. However, I've never installed a remote start on a manual transmission vehicle, you have to be very careful as the neutral safety switch will need to be bypassed. There aren't too many remote start modules out there that will allow wiring up a manual transmission, so check around.

I've never looked into Compustar, so I can't answer that for you. :-? A voltmeter is always useful to have working around the car's electrical system. But for alarms, it isn't really needed, just wire stripper, crimper, t-taps, etc. and some patience to clean up all the extra wires after everything is installed. Last time, I had to clean up such a bad install on a friend's Prelude, which had wires dangling right above her feet and half the features weren't even hooked up!!!
