WHat's causing this? I changed all 4 of my spark plugs but the engine runs the same as it did before I changed them. Feels like there is a miss somewhere. The ignitor coil is ticking so im nto sure if that's going bad or what. I have an 1984 Toyota pickup. Any help would be appreciated.

I looked a lil closer and it says coil, w/igniter. That is waht is ticking. I don't know much about how to fix cars.

I had the same problem on my 87 22R. The coil made a ticking sound the the truck would run great sometimes and miss and chug others. For me, putting new plug wires on and a new distributor cap did the trick, and ran me about 40 bucks too boot! Good Luck.

I'll get the wires and the cap since it worked for you. I'll also ask my uncle to make sure thats what I should do to. I may also say since getting the truck from my grandpa 5 years ago, I don't know if hte plug wires have ever been changed. is it hard to replace the wires or the cap?

One more question what brand of spark plug wires did you get?

Well just recently I started it back up and looked at any wires that appeared to hany a sparky glow and only the 3rd wire that I saw had that issue. So I guess I'll def be changing my wires

I put new plug wires which are XACT brand and a new DIST cap and cost about $30. Seems to run alot better and smoother now. Also the ticking at the ignition coil is gone.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you, if your distributor cap was cracked or not sealing right, getting new one would help some because moisture could get in thru a crack and cause the distributor to mess up a little bit, that's why you wanted a new cap.
