Toyota develops fuel cell forklift
Toyota has announced a new fuel cell forklift, the FCHV-F. The forklift is a prototype that operates on a hydrogen fuel cell system. The lift performance is reported to be equal to Toyota’s electric forklift.
Why must manufacturers, especially Toyota, make a fuel cell concept for every type of machine imaginable? What’s next a hydrogen fuel cell push lawn mower? In the case of the forklift, what’s wrong with a battery powered forklift? We’re not so sure a fuel cell forklift would be particularly efficient, especially considering the amount of energy necessary to harvest and transport hydrogen.
