I'm gettin an 87 FX16 with the 4age engine in about a month. The engine has 150k on it and as such I plan on rebuilding it. After rebuilding it, I'd like to turn the car into somewhat of a sleeper by turbo charging it. Where can I get a turbo for this engine and what other things would I have to do to the engine so that putting the turbo on it wouldnt destroy the engine? Thanks for all your help guys.

if you plan to go forced induction, then DON'T rebuild it before going turbo...... build it FOR forced induction

could just put a 4A-GZE engine in it, i mean your planning to rebuild the 4A-GE anyways. It might be cheaper to use a 4A-GZE then to turbo a 4A-GE besides the GZE is already built for forced induction

+1
use 8:1 pistons and put aftermaket rods and such in it. A pupose built turbo engine will put more power down, more reliably than slapping a turbo on an NA car.

but if it's an fx16 gts 4age, then i doubt the gze rods will fit..... early bigports have the same 40mm rod journal that the 4afe's use (so, you could use an early forged 4age crank in a 4afe block ;) ) but the gze's came out in 88... same time as the larger rod journal 4age's, and have the same size journals
