Input sensitivity?crazy_camry 11-10-2002, 01:57 AM on my kenwood amp there is a dial for 'input sensitivity'. i have no idea what it is or what it should be set to. any help is much appreciated Luc 11-10-2002, 02:49 PM That potentiometer is to match the output voltage level of your headunit to the input stage of the preamp in the Kenwood, in other words, the gain sensitivity. Luc crazy_camry 11-11-2002, 01:39 AM thats what in said in the manual but i have no idea what the voltage level is, it doesn't say in my headunit manual which is a sony xplod with 52Wx4, is that what they mean? so is this the 'gain' control which everyone talks about? i have virtually no idea about audio stuff :hammer: XR250rdr 11-11-2002, 01:58 AM First off, the Input Sensitivity is not a volume control. Turning it up will not result in more power output, just the amp reaching full output quicker. To set Gain: 1. Turn the gain on the amplifier all the way down. 2. Turn the volume on your HU about 3/4 of the way up. This is different between different makes of HU's, so it may be a little higher or lower. Basically get it up to almost clipping. 3. The gains on the amp up until you hear audible distortion, then turn it down a little. You should have now have the gain initally set. Try listening to a variety of music and listen for audible distortion, you may have to turn the gain down some. If you need any ore help I have AIM turned on most of the time, or drop me an email. crazy_camry 11-11-2002, 02:12 AM yeah thanks. i don't think my neighbours would like me turning my volume up that high :) | |
