That potentiometer is to match the output voltage level of your headunit to the input stage of the preamp in the Kenwood, in other words, the gain sensitivity.

thats what in said in the manual but i have no idea what the voltage level is, it doesn't say in my headunit manual which is a sony xplod with 52Wx4, is that what they mean? so is this the 'gain' control which everyone talks about? i have virtually no idea about audio stuff :hammer:

First off, the Input Sensitivity is not a volume control. Turning it up will not result in more power output, just the amp reaching full output quicker.

To set Gain:

1. Turn the gain on the amplifier all the way down.
2. Turn the volume on your HU about 3/4 of the way up. This is different between different makes of HU's, so it may be a little higher or lower. Basically get it up to almost clipping.
3. The gains on the amp up until you hear audible distortion, then turn it down a little.

You should have now have the gain initally set. Try listening to a variety of music and listen for audible distortion, you may have to turn the gain down some.

If you need any ore help I have AIM turned on most of the time, or drop me an email.
