I just bought a 97 corolla dx w/.I test drove it and everything seemed ok no leaks good power no misses etc.It had no warranty bought as/is102000 miles at a nissan dealer. On the way home not 15 miles from the dealer cel comes on and engine is missing at idle and thru out the driving range.I realize i bought it as is but for 5000 i think they should have told me something was wrong if they knew it.How can i pull codes with out a obd2 scanner?thanks mike

Take it to your local auto parts store. I know Advance auto keeps generic scanners so you can at least read the codes and find out what it is.

What HateNFate said  ...If its a costly fix most states have that 3-5 business day thing where you can cancel a transaction within that time frame ;) ...The dealer might fix it, knock some money off or at the least give you your money back...Good Luck, hope its something simple...Radd Guy

I had a 97 do that during the test drive. The seller took it over to the shop and it turned out to be a piece of carbon that had fouled a plug. (I went with him and saw it). So could be minor.
Bottom line, though is that you should get it in front of the dealer fast, and if he gives you any resistance, check your state laws. You probably have only the 3 days, so don't let them delay you longer that that - you'll be stuck.
