98 Landcruiser problem

Put a new battery into the cruiser today, dummy me i got the wrong battery and accidently plugged the wires onto wrong taps...positive/negative. so i realize my mistake and go grab the right battery....only to find out my cruiser starts but i cant put it into drive or anything......any ideas? im thinking either the fuses are blown or somethin, hope its not critical. i cant even drive it to the autoshop....wont budge from park.

sounds like your safety brake switch is out. it's the switch that let's you shift out of park when you press down on your brakes.
