Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.TO) President Katsuaki Watanabe said Monday that his company is mulling producing a midsize Camry sedan at a plant in the U.S. owned by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (7270.TO) as part of their alliance.
The two Japanese automakers have said that they will join hands in the areas of research and development and production after Toyota took an 8.7% stake in Fuji Heavy last October.
The two partners have been discussing details of their alliance since then, but no concrete plans had been disclosed until recently.
Watanabe declined to elaborate on the potential production of the Camry, saying only that "we are finalizing details (of the tie)."
