what's the differance between GT and GTS for 6th gen celica?

The Engines are different for sure. I'm not sure about the engine terminologies.. but I know the GT shares engine with the 2003 Corollas and Matrix XR, and the GTS shares engines with the matrix XRS. Totally different engines = totally different parts. :)

Ren, 6th gen Celis ran from 94 to 99, the 7th gen runs from 00+. 7th gens came with a 2ZZ(180HP)/6spd or sportshift/rear discs for the GTS and 1ZZ(140HP)/5spd or auto/rear drums GT.

The 6th gen GTS was only available in Canada which is why you only see GT on US manufactuerers application lists. There is no diff between a fully optioned US spec GT and a Canadian spec GTS. This means you can buy GT parts and they'll fit your GTS.

Edit: I hear somthing about the US cars having a taller final drive, so they'd be a bit quicker, but I'm not a 100% on that one.
