RAV4EVR 02-20-2006, 04:19 PM If you check these guys out... They are selling the V6 5th Generation Camry as a manual transmission. I thought the 5th Generation Camry did not come in a manual transmission. Can you all verify this? I did not want to have to call these guys.
I am glad the 2007 Camry will have a manual transmission on both 4cyl and V6...... yooohooooooo !

white3ch0c0late 02-20-2006, 04:21 PM As far as I know, they had plenty of v6 manuals. It was the Gen 4 that had scarce manual v6's.

2002- 2006 Model years ??????????????
The shape you have in your siggy ???
REALLY ??!!!!! Why was I in dark all these years. I thought they did not have 5 speed manuals after 2001.
pjsammy 02-20-2006, 04:44 PM they didnt make V6 manuals after 2001. I think it's a mistake in the ads. they don't make em for 07 either.
boo to toyota, I say (but from a purely business standpoint, I can sort of understand it. I don't like it, but I understand it).

Hmm.. yeah, you're right. There were no v6 manuals. I just did some snooping around, and only the 4cyl models had the 5sp. Oh well...

Wherever I have read, they say manual will be available in 4 cyl Camry for 2007 !!

"The four-cylinder is matched to your choice between a five-speed automatic and a five-speed manual, while the V6 gets a new six-speed automatic transmission. "
BlueFusion6851 02-20-2006, 06:12 PM ^That means 2007 SE I-4 for you.

Same goes for the new IS250 and IS350. Only the IS250 RWD has a manual transmission option.
Ruffrydasean 02-20-2006, 07:44 PM what the hell is their problem >.<
pjsammy 02-20-2006, 09:34 PM thanks for exactly proving what I was saying. No V6 manuals. The 4 cyl is available with a manual and has been since the car was introduced to the US (or at the least since the early 80s). V6 stick shift died off. It's a shame.
The whole thing is a self fullfilling prophecy: Does toyota not make the V6 manual because nobody buys em or is it that nobody buys em because toyota doesn't make em?
They threw us a bone by at least offering a SE model --- but then they take away the stick. WTF?!!?!?
Tideland Prius 02-21-2006, 01:44 AM Well, is Honda selling a lot of EX-V6 6MT coupes? They've been aroudn since 2004 to take over the 3.2CL 6MT's role.
Razo-E 02-21-2006, 03:20 AM if they sold a 5speed V6, im sure no one would get it..
most of you just want Toyota to offer a 5 speed V6, so you can say "Yeah, Toyota offers a V6 manual" when arguing to ricer friends about which company's better..
some of us like autos..
pjsammy 02-21-2006, 06:43 AM having had 3 different manual camrys over the years (2 of which were V6s) I can assure you that I'd actually purchase one. My last purchase (an 05 tC) was almost a 4cyl SE manual, but the "bang for the buck" of the tC won in the end...even though I'm not such a fan of 2 doors.
I've had an 1984 Toyota Van LE since it was brand new and it's a stick shift. Only 2 of our 11 toyotas have been autos (mom's corollas). So I assure you I'm not all talk. But as I've stated, I understand that they barely sell any sticks, so from a purely business standpoint, I can deal with it....but it bugs the heck out of me. If they want to give the camry (and toyota in general) a less plain jane image, they NEED to offer some legitimate sportiness. They can't be all talk like Mazda was for a while. Since the Mazda6 came out (followed by the Mazdaspeed variants and of course the RX8) Mazda has made good on the "zoom zoom" part of things. Why can't toyota get into that mix a little?!
Tideland Prius 02-21-2006, 03:13 PM Well they did offer a manual V6 Solara remember? The SE V6 model. Kinda sad that if you wanted a loaded model (SLE V6), you had to get an auto but either way, they did offer a manual V6 1st Gen Solara before. I mean they dropped it for 2004 and even the RAV4 that has been available with a manual for 10 years now no longer offers it.
RAV4EVR 02-22-2006, 11:37 AM Lazy people destroying my future for me. I will be walking by the time I retire because no manuals by that time and I will refuse to drive an automatic.

Enthusiasts do not.
Give me a MT over an Auto ANY day of the week. ESPECIALLY in a V6

i would like to see you say that when you're stuck in los angeles' traffic

To be stuck in traffic would imply no or slow movement. I don't see how that changes anything. It usually takes me an hour and a half or two to get home in traffic when any other time that commute takes 30 minutes. I still like my manual.
Im just not lazy

I live in a small town. I don't like big towns because of traffic..etc..etc.... but the only thing that gets me through the traffic of Chicago and NewYork (whenever i visit), is shifting my gears........................................... 1-2-neutral-1-2-1-2-neutral-1-2-1-2-neutral-1-2-1-2-1-neutral-1-2-1-2-1-2-3-neutral ..................................... :)
IF i had auto trans....... I would have killed myself in traffic with anger and boredom.... I was never going to see me showing my son and daughter how to drive a stick on a very old car as in his/her times, stick won't exist anymore and he/she will never know what the pleasure of driving meant... It is not all about going point A to B but the processes of going from A to B is what this life is about..

personally, i would get pissed off even more if i drive a stick in traffic conditions because sometimes it could happen that right after you shift to a higher gear the car in front just brakes. then, you would have to brake and shift to a lower gear.. this could happen repeatedly until i would get bored of it
5spd V6 ClrTail 02-22-2006, 08:59 PM LOL, same here, I'd be bored outta my mind if i didn't have a manual when in traffic on the LIE or anyother hwy in queens. The car makes all sorts of noises cuz I have a straight thru exhaust system, it's fun. 92 5spd V6.
Corollacrazy42 02-23-2006, 12:57 AM So just asking but is there any manual trannies for the gen 4/4.5 camry's?.. Or any that will bolt up to the beast?.. if not my camry will not be around as long as I had hoped. I'm all for a manual
RiZLA 02-23-2006, 04:44 AM when i was 18 i was planning on buying a sports car but my budget wasnt that high so i bought the camry knowing it would last me and i could save money. im turning 20 soon and the only thing that made me keep my car was that its a 5 speed.
i love my toyota because its been so good to me and ive pushed my car to 200+ km/h and its never failed me, not even close. sadly though, i want something new and fast. something that i can comfortably fit into considering my height is slightly above average (im 6'2). also i dont get proper back support from these seats.
Although my plan is to buy an 07 Tundra as my next vehicle, it would make that decision harder if Toyota offered a 07 5 speed V6 Camry. I wouldve never bought my car if it didnt come in manual and i LOVE my car.

Hey... just so you know, you are not the ONLY Desi with a V6 5 speed..
Tideland Prius 02-23-2006, 02:25 PM So V6 Camrys in the US got manuals eh? We didn't lol. even for Gen 4, our manuals were limited to the CE and LE 4 cylinders.
91MR2quickNA 02-23-2006, 02:31 PM I believe Australia is one of the only countries that offers the Gen 5 with a V6 manual. It's still the 1MZ-FE (no VVT-i) and E153 combo that was found on our Gen 4s though.
pjsammy 02-23-2006, 02:41 PM former v6 5 speed desi here, too
(former as in the car, not the indian decent part :))

Talk to some supra owners. they high hp ones have auto's trannies!
I'd prefer a m/t over a a/t camry; but not all auto enthusiast like m/t's.
