I know nothing about intakes. I don't even think they make any for my car...haven't been keeping up. Anyway, I heard you can just buy an adapter and stick on a cone filter....

Does anyone know how to make this adapter or where I can buy one? I believe the hole is about 3" in diameter.

I'm planning to create some kinda heat shield, as well as a nice ram air setup...well, it doesn't actually RAM the filter but you get my drift....

I seen an adapter on ebay for that but in not sure it works. What i would do is mak my original air box into that adapter by cuting it where the box starts.Im not sure how your intake works so i will not be able to say much more.

You can go custom, Hen. Not worth paying for the pipe. As for the filter, you can just get that online. I don't suggest an open cone in the engine bay, though. With my recent downpipe addition, the car feels HELLALOT faster. No joke!!

Not understanding what you mean Jeff. With the cone filter, I can just remove the stock airbox and with an adapter (a metal plate with 1" of piping welding on) I can attach the cone.

Which pipe do you mean? What pipe should I NOT replace? Remember, I have that MAF sensor thingy, I just don't wanna fool around with that.

I was thinking a cone filter, heat shield and then ram air. What other options do I have?

Hen, check out the full custom CAIs at team sc3. You can get that done here too. The sensor will fit. I know what they look like even though I have a different one on my 4 banger.

If you don't want to go full custom and keep the throttle-body-to-filter section, you can add the adaptor and filter, and turn it into a CAI by adding a downpipe to the fender.

What I mean by don't pay for the pipe is the ones you buy at speed shops. They charge a ridiculous amount for a small section of pipe. You pay a lot less for custom of the same piece.

That's exactly what I want to do...I want to keep the throttle-body to filter section. So...I should buy the adaptor and filter...which filter? Basically a cone filter? Or a filter that's sealed like yours and then do the ram air? Or is a cone filter okay, with a heat shield and then put in a pipe which just redirects air towards the filter?

I'll look at SC3's site...most likely all my questions will be answered there.

If you want to be ghetto you can get the cone filter with the open end and get the tube pipeing thats for dryers and run that out of the whole in the cone filer to the front of your car for a ghetto CAI. Ha Ha but thats only if ya want to. There really is not much other then that or a CAI from E.L. Prototypes in So.Cal. Hope some of this helped
