2007 seems to pull to the right...

First post!!!

We just got a 2007 loaded XLE V6 with 9k miles on it. The dealer gave the car an alignment after I said it pulled to the right. A friend drove it home for us and it sat for 3 days until the weekend when we got to drive it.

It still seems to pull but not like before. Before the alignment it was 'pulling' now the steering wheel seems to not come back to level after a right turn. It tugs (so slightly) back to the right during a left turn. Though at times it seems fine. This is our first Toyota so I'm not sure if this is a Toyota thing or an actuall issue...

Thanks for your help! Scott

One of the main reasons I ONLY buy Toyotas is that I've never had one with screwed-up alignment. They always track dead straight! Sounds like something is still not right with your car.

I had similar peoblems with my 97 a few weeks ago and I did 2 alignments and the problem persisted. Finally, the dealer found that I had a defective tire which cause a tire pull problem. To check if your tire is defective, check out this site:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=12

Now with that bad tire replaced, I have perfect alignment.

My 07 LE pulls to the left, I thought it was me, until my wife and father drove the car and to me the same think, if you let go of the steering wheel, it pulls left!

My 07 LE Camry also pulls left. The dealer says there is "no problem" with it....it pulls....plain and simple. I drive the same road everyday and change/swap out to the Park Ave all the time too. The Park Ave drives straight.

I am always either pulling down with my right hand or pushing up with my left hand while in cruise mode on the freeway.

9000 miles? did you get it used?

Mine pulls with the slant of the road... I think it's due to the soft steering, you just feel it pull easier than most cars I've driven. Doesn't seem like it's off, just that it doesn't "try" to stay centered.

Mine 2007 V6 XLE pulls to the right, too! Just kind of slight. I told toyota dealer this issue about 1 months ago and they gave me a free alignmnet. After that, it became a little bit better but still pull to the right. I am going to check on the tires. But I am not sure if I can just "rotate" the front left and front right wheel? Thansk.....

No it was still consider new. One of the behind the scenes Toyota employees was driving it... Usally that many miles would scare me but we got it for 26k + a free platinum warrantee... It's 100% loaded...

Just a couple of things to add to the discussion:

1. Seems that this car is a bit more sensitive to the crown of the road than other cars I've had have been. "Pulling to the right" can just be because we drive on the right side of the road, and therefore are on the "downhill to the right" side of the pavement. If you can, get in the middle of a street -- does that straighten it out? Or, get on the left side, and then does it pull to the left, or continue pulling to the right? If at the center or on the left side of a properly crowned road, and it's still pulling to the right, then, yeah, that's a problem. And, of course, "vice versa" would be true.

2. Always check your tire pressures -- if you're way out of balance between the left and the right front tire pressures, that can make a big difference, too.

Again, check those out before worrying too much. Then, if it's still pulling, you've got ammo to go talk to the dealer with....

My 02 Camry SE always had a slight pull to the left also... I think it's because I weigh 300 Pounds

I thought all of this too. I had my tires re-rotated and balanced last weekend. It had a shimmy in the steering. It was a weight that fell off the right front. Then I drove it...still pulls to the left. Kinda hard. I can't take my hands off it for more then a couple of seconds to "catch it". Now the same piece of freeway with my Buick I can let go for 30 seconds. I tried ALL 3 lanes on this stretch of freeway. The Camry actually went kinda straight in the far right lane where there is more slant to the right.

Something is not right. I am going to force them to re-align the wheels. May have them do a 4 wheel alinment. I have heard about this happening to previous gens of Camrys and they all were with in specs and still pulled.

Just checked the nhtsa website and found the following TSB.

You can download this TSB and all others by buying access to the Toyota/Scion/Lexus TechInfo site:

http://techinfo.toyota.com/

Ten bucks buys you one day's access, though it goes through until midnight of the next day after you buy it, so it can be nearly two days if you're early.... ;)

This one is a lengthy guide that goes over, well, here's how the TSB itself describes it:

"This bulletin contains general vehicle pulling diagnosis and repair procedures along with specific information to help correct pulling complaints."

It just goes over all of the reasons why a vehicle might be pulling to one side, how to diagnose it (rotate tires front to back, dismount tire and turn it around on the wheel, and a bunch of stuff like that), and provides a general flow chart to work through.

In short, it's not "we have a problem," but rather "here's what to do if you get a complaint about it."

I had this problem my '02. I rotated the tires the problem magically went away.
FWD are sensitive to tires, if it has tires it doesnt like it can cause this and nothing else is wrong. So rotate em or even have the dealer replace them if you really have to.

I have a 2007 Camry XLE V6. I initially had an alignment issue that was corrected by the dealer, but over 2500 miles of driving I've noticed that the 2007 Camry's do not have a very positive on-center feel of the steering. The steering effort is also very light.

Light steering effort and lack of a positive on-center feel to the steering both contribute to a pulling feeling (either right or left depending on the road surface and road crown) and can be quite disconcerting.

When I picked my Camry up after the dealer alignment, I though it still pulled to the right, but then I drove it additional miles and on different road surfaces and at times it would appear to pull to the left, so then I put my analytical cap on and started paying very close attention to the steering feel, road surface, and other vairiables such as tire pressure, etc.

After driving my car and other 2007 Camrys (loaners because of my ongoing transmission problems) I've come to the conclusion that the steering and alignment conspire to make the problem appear far more often than it should.

Toyota, if you're listening, the 2007 Camry really needs a more positive on-center feel to the steering and a slightly higher steering effort. I know that the on-center feel has a lot to do with the alignment specifications and that the steering effort can probably be adjusted.
