Toyota delays Tundra

Toyota has delayed the Tundra until Feb. 2007 to avoid the holiday craziness, so GM and Ford can breath a sigh of relief.

The Tundra has been scheduled for a February launch since late 2005. It's not a delay.

^^ Thats what i was thinking. Its not on delay, its on schedule. Unless i hear that thay are releasing it in June, then it would be delay!

We start training in late October - early November. They told us that Jan 1 we'll be making them.

They've built 65 of them as of 3 weeks ago. They are currently being crash/road/race tested. I'll see one in 3 weeks, no cameras allowed.

I have to agree with you. This ia a release that Toyota must have go absolutely perfectly. Taking the extra month or so to make sure you can avoid any stupid mistakes is a great decision for them.

Did you read any of the above posts? They are not delaying the Tundra and therefore are not taking an extra month. January production with Feb release was always in the plans

According to autoblog, the original plan was late '06/January '07. Wouldn't a February release then be "delayed."

Toyota was also silent on price, but did say that the Tundra would be on sale in 11 months. Toyota honcho Jim Press hinted, however, that it would likely hit the streets even sooner. (February 9, 2006)

I guess you didn't read the last line in that article (from february 06), let me post it for you

February 07 is still early. I will also say again, when i first saw the full size 07 model (without engine) in September 2005, they were saying "early 2007 launch".

I've been hearing Late Jan 07, so announcing Feb for availability makes sense.

I saw a 07 D Cab the other day. Man, that thing was huge.

The new 2007 Tundra is due in February, with advertising to start in March. Toyota wants to make sure there is sufficient supply before advertising. The launch will be in the Midwest first and then spread to the coasts.

The first small block V8 Tundra will roll off in October, and the big block in November/December? We still will not see them until Feb no matter how you slice it and dice it. There is talk of a delay not because of quality, (but because Toyota knows best) of the Tundra being a June release as a 2008. Toyota is going to build 300,000 the first model year, more than double of what they have ever built in Tundra in the past model years.

Towing is going to be in excess of 10,000lbs. Other trucks say they can do this, and they can, but they have a little problem with breaking, so they go through breaks quite often (Titan every 8,000 miles).

Isn't that a tad on the optimistic side? Toyota only sold 126,529 Tundras last year (2005 total sales.) With fuel being even higher than last year would it really be possible that this new truck could sell 300K units the first year? Maybe, but that seems unlikely.

As of june 2006 Toyota has sold 57,458 Tundras which is down 10.8% from June 2005's total of 64,429. At the current rate, Toyota is only looking to sell about 115-120K Tundra's this year.

the reason they sold less is because america wants a BIG truck not a little truck , plus another reason is because people are wanting a redesigned truck{new style} too ...

people keep talking about the trucks not comming out till feb. well they will be in full production in indiana in january building the d-cab they are running trials and ramping up for the bigger truck now .. texas is starting to get the plant running and getting people trained to start up. texas, will build the majority of the tundras , and at first there will be a ton of option packages until they find out what the people want .. in the vin code the first number is 5 which stands for indiana i am not for sure what texas vin number or letter will be ..
