Overseas production rose 5.1 percent to 290,075 vehicles, the 55th straight monthly rise due to increased output in almost all regions. Toyota's domestic output rose 11.5 percent to 339,648 units, the 11th consecutive month of higher production.

DETROIT U-S- automakers say their July vehicle sales plummeted from last year, when heavy discounts fueled a near record month for the auto industry.
But Toyota saw a double-digit increase -- outselling Ford in the U-S- for the first month ever.

Correct. I wish I had bought stock about 10 years ago. :disappoin ... too bad I had just started college and had no money at that time... not that it is any different now being married with kids.

I was going to have atleast 50 Toyotas parked on my property by now starting from the 1967 Toyota Corona.. and the 1977 Land Cruiser.. up to the next Tundra... FJ Cruiser...... (well.... uhh... EVERY TOYOTA MODEL ever manufactured since the 50s!!). :lol: I would have a few acres dedicated just to storing my vehicles. A nice big building........... ok back to reality............ :(

It's nice to see Mazda having success, I think there cars are nice overall, "sporty" and cool looking, I drove a rental Mada3 and I thought it was pretty nice. It just baffles me that the big3 roll out more big SUV's (Yes I know Toyota has them too but its not the majority of income or product line) and to the point refuse if you want to say to bring over there smaller cars cause apparenty America doesn't want them, wake up! They do now! Sure people are still going to drive bigger cars no doubt but the small or at least more efficient car is becoming more prevelant in American life...but whatever, they (big3) can dig their own grave. I'll get off my soap box:o:

I did (a majority of my portfolio was TM). I bought them at 50 something back in August 02 and them more in april 03....I rode the train till the stock took a slight beating in 05. Sold it at 78 something...Now i wish i would have held on to it. Its currently stuck at 95-110. I think one more production wooe's or another recall is what will bring me back to buy it again. I think right now the stock will go up, but i'd rather buy on weakness....

It's the big 3 fault that they are sinking. Why come out with all these larger cars and trucks with poor gas mileage when people are looking for more fuel efficient cars. GM is giving away $1000 gas cards if you buy a truck from them. I have never seen so many trucks on a lot in my life GM is getting killed on them. Yes sales have increased for the new trucks but look at what they have to give away to get the sale. Toyota/Honda are eating the big 3's lunch. WHen you go to a toyota lot what do you see? Here in chicago not much - lol. They can't keep the yaris on the lot longer than a few days. The camry is pretty much coming in the 4 cylinder here and they are selling like 5000 dollar cars - lol. It's the same with honda and the civic/fit.

One word: Unions

Toyota and Honda hire non-Union employees while the Big 3 hires them. Unions control how much the company pays them. Right now, the unions are driving those companies broke. Unions want outrageous wages, fat pensions and a fully paid healthcare.

I read an article before that every car GM sells, $1,500 of it goes to the pensions of their Union employees.

Now you have the Big 3 laying off workers and relocating to Mexico.

It's ironic that Japanese companies are now providing jobs to Americans while American companies continue to make lower quality cars made by mexicans.

Why did TOYOTA make the tacoma BIGGER?
Why did TOYOTA make the 2008 TUNDRA MUCH BIGGER?
Why is TOYOTA still building the SEQUIOA?

Why did NISSAN build the TITAN?
Why did NISSAN increase the size of their SUV's?

Why did Honda build the RIDGELINE?

SIMPLE: THOSE ARE THE VEHICLES THAT WE, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, WANTED TO BUY BEFORE GAS WAS $3 PER GALLON! It's not GM, ford and Dodge's fault gas went out of control. If fuel prices hadn't surged when it did, that toyota lot you speak of would be full of fuel efficient cars and empty of trucks and SUV's. The "big 3" made the unfortunate mistake of building NOTHING but what the AMERICAN PEOPLE WANTED. If you don't believe me what has been the best selling vehicle in America for like 10 years or so? The F-150! Number 2? The Silverado!

You can't turn around 3 of the largest companies in the world in 1 year and a half.

Well.. Toyota has been growing in a positive direction for a very long time... Hybrids were introduced only in 2000 for Toyota............... The way I see, it Hybrids are not the ONLY factor Toyota is growing. It was going to continue to grow even without the Hybrids... I am sure many will LOVE to argue against that... ;)
