Toyota has finally released the figures for the new Aussie Built Toyota Aurion. 200kw of power on Regular Unleaded - 204kw on PULP. Aparrently it will give 9.9L/100km too. This is the e-mail i recieved this morning:

For too long, Big Aussie 6s have all been going in the same old direction. Yet all that is about to change because Toyota Aurion V6 is almost here.

Aurion V6 will be the first conventional car in Australia to achieve the elusive “double” of at least 200kW in power and better than 10 litres/100km fuel economy.

It’s the automotive equivalent of the 3 minute mile.

At 200kW, Aurion V6 will be the most powerful naturally aspirated locally-built 6 cylinder vehicle. What’s more, 200kW is achieved using regular unleaded petrol, while the figure climbs to 204kW with premium unleaded petrol. And all this power is produced using just 9.9litres/100km*.

To put that into context - The recently launched VE Commodore uses over 9% more fuel without achieving the power output of the Aurion.

How will the Aurion V6 achieve these seemingly contradictory figures?

For starters the Aurion will boast an F1 inspired, technologically advanced 3.5L quad cam V6 with Dual VVT-i, which elevates power output whilst optimising fuel efficiency. Added to that, Aurion will be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission that allows the big V6 to use its power reserves more wisely. And not only that, this 6-speed, sequential-style automatic transmission will be the offered across the entire range. In the past, these transmissions have only been offered in performance or luxury variants of Big Aussie 6s.

Aurion V6 promises to be a true home grown success story having been designed and engineered for Australia’s unique conditions. Build quality will be another standout feature with Aurion V6 being assembled at Toyota’s state of the art Altona plant in Melbourne. Aurion’s unique combination of performance and fuel economy will set a new standard for the Big Aussie 6 market.

Soon, you’ll see the big Aussie 6 in a whole new light.

Keep in touch with the unfolding Aurion V6 story by visiting AurionV6.com.au. With the official release just around the corner this November, rest assured it will be worth the wait.

* ADR81/01 combined cycle. Actual fuel consumption may vary depending on driving style and conditions.

Cant wait till it comes out. I will be first in line to buy one :D

Isn't the Aurion the same as the Avalon in North America?

^^ Nope. The Aurion is a new ground-up design based loosely on the Gen6 Camry chassis. In fact - In Australia it is replacing the V6 Camry...

I am not too sure what you mean by different engine, gearboxes etc.?

Just dressed differently, it is the same 2GR-FE 3.5 liter V6 engine in the Aurion and the same sequential automatic transmission found in the Camry/Avalon V6 (atleast North American versions). The power output of 200 KW = 268 HP is identical that of the V6 Camry.
